Lang opened by discarding Treeborn Frog to Special Summon Swap Frog, sending a Treeborn Frog from his Deck to the Graveyard with the effect. He returned Swap Frog to his hand and resummoned it to send a third Treeborn Frog to the grave. Swap Frog returned to the hand again and Lang ended his turn.

Lang drew and activated Nobleman of Extermination to remove Bottomless Trap Hole from the game, then he Normal Summoned Swap Frog to send another Swap Frog from his Deck to the Graveyard. Swap Frog attacked directly for 1000 and Lang moved to his Main Phase 2, then activated Pot of Duality to reveal Mobius the Frost Monarch, Soul Exchange, and Treacherous Trap Hole; he kept Mobius. Swap Frog returned to the hand and Lang ended.

Weigle moved to his Main Phase 2 and Special Summoned XX-Saber Faultroll, then sent Fulhelmknight and Emmersblade to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier. Weigle discarded Mystical Space Typhoon to spin Colossal Fighter off the field. He then activated Faultroll's effect to Special Summon Fulhelmknight in Defense Position before ending his turn.
Lang drew and brought back Treeborn Frog, then activated Pot of Avarice to return Light and Darkness Dragon, Swap Frog, Raiza the Storm Monarch, Treeborn Frog, and Formula Synchron to their respective decks to draw 2 cards. He then discarded a card to bring back Fishborg Blaster, sent both his monsters to the Graveyard to draw a card with Formula Synchron, and then he tributed Formula for Dark Dust Spirit to clear Weigle's field and attack for game!

Lang brought back Treeborn Frog and Synchro Summoned Armory Arm with Treeborn Frog and XX-Saber Fulhelmknight. Armory Arm attacked directly for 1800 and Lang ended his turn.

Weigle drew and activated Brionac's effect to spin a monster, discarding Effect Veiler but Lang chained Effect Veiler to negate Brionac. Weigle Normal Summoned XX-Saber Darksoul and then flipped Gottoms' Emergency Call to get back X-Saber Pashuul and XX-Saber Fulhelmknight. He followed it up with an XX-Saber Faultroll from his hand and sent Darksoul and Pashuul to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Naturia Beast. Faultroll's effect actuvated to bring back Pashuul and Weigle sent Pashuul and Faultroll to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Scrap Dragon. Weigle activated the effect of Scrap Dragon but Lang had another Effect Veiler to negate it. Weigle then moved to his Battle Phase and attacked over Treeborn Frog with XX-Saber Fulhelmknight, getting back XX-Saber Darksoul with the effect. Naturia Beast attacked over a face-down Treeborn Frog and then Darksoul, Brionac, and Scrap Dragon hit directly for 5200. Weigle sent Darksoul and Fulhelmknight to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon Naturia Barkion, then moved to his End Phase and searched XX-Saber Fulhelmknight and XX-Saber Emmersblade with the effect of Darksoulm before ending his turn.

While this is an illegal play on 2 counts neither player seemed to notice and play continued as normal. Lang tributed off Treeborn Frog for Dark Dust Spirit to destroy Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo and XX-Saber Darksoul, hit directly for 2200 and returned Dark Dust Spirit to his hand before ending his turn, Weigle got XX-Saber Boggart Knight with his Darksoul effect.

Weigle drew and Normal Summon XX-Saber Boggart Knight, activating the effect to Special Summon XX-Saber Fulhelmknight and followed it up by Special Summoning XX-Saber Faultroll. Weigle used Faultroll's effect to bring back Darksoul and then sent Faultroll and Fulhelmknight to the Graveyard to Synchro Summon XX-Saber Gottoms! Gottoms tributed off a Darksoul to knock Battle Fader out of Lang's hand and then tributed Boggart Knight to knock Enemy Controller out of Lang's hand. Gottoms then attacked directly to end the match!
Jonathan Weigle comes back from a grevious oversight with Effect Veiler to win the match and stay x-1 in the tournament!
